Le bande tropicali si stanno desertificando. Non è certo una novità. Anker Petersen, ormai da decenni, segue il trend annotando le variazioni tra i 2200 e i 5800 kHz. Qui sopra il suo rapporto appena pubblicato: "Trends in tropical bands broadcasting 2018". Clandestine e pirati non sono inclusi.

Since the Danish Short Wave Club International published the first Tropical Bands Survey in 1973, I have registered which stations are active, based upon loggings from our members and other DX-ers around the world. Here is an updated status where Clandestine and Pirate stations not are included.

3345 kHz 7/03/18 0346 Channel Africa with talks and song. 0400 ann "Africa rising sun..." and jingle. Then YL reading EN news and announcing "Double 3, 4, 5 kHz on the 90 m band". Then alternating OM and YL spkrs. Good, fading out after 0415.

3990 kHz 7/03/18 1755 PBS Xizang talks and MX. Fair. //4980 kHz (worse) and //6120 kHz (good). 1800 time signal and s/off.

Since 1973 the Danish Shortwave Club International has published annually a TROPICAL BANDS SURVEY covering broadcast stations on 2200 - 5700 kHz, edited by various members, including myself.
In 1999 we decided to extend it with Domestic shortwave broadcasts on 5700 - 22000 kHz in the annual DOMESTIC BROADCASTING SURVEY edited by me.
Since the number of active stations vary during each year, I decided in 2005 also to publish a monthly update of the 120, 90 and 60 metrebands, called TROPICAL BANDS MONITOR.

Thanks to tips from Ron Howard & Ivo Ivanov (HCDX), i caught a few minutes of RR above the noise this morning--mostly RU chat, some operatic-style singing & a nice "Radyo Rossii" ID @ 1409. Surprised the signal isn't better as most FE RU stations heard in the past had usually quite good signals. (Dan Sheedy)

11580 PIRATE Radio Northern Ireland, 0130, signed on with the "Lincolnshire Poacher," heard a clear "Northern Ireland," and possibly an address. Difficult to hear much else because of the jamming on this frequency aimed at earlier WRMI programs and still going. Signal was fair, but because of the jamming pretty much unintelligible. (Aug. 28, 2016) Earlier on 15770 from 2054 t/in until 2114 t/out had something unid on this freq. RNI scheduled for 2100 s/on, but signal too weak to determine if this was it. Was best in LSB. Appeared to be EG with some mx. (XM)
